Forget Rice Cereal?

We have always known the rules about babies first solid foods, rice cereal followed by pureed vegetables, then fruits. We’ve never questioned it, just blindly followed. But it turns out that it all may be a myth. There really is no solid scientific evidence to support the baby feeding rules we have always followed. Experts are now saying that over the age of 6 months, a child can handle just about any food. The only rules to follow is to be cautious if there is a family history of food allergies, introduce just one food at a time to be aware of any problems and of course avoid foods that could be a choking hazard such as grapes, hotdogs and such.
Of course it is hard to imagine a baby going from breastmilk or formula to lasagna and enchiladas but it is nice to know that perhaps we can worry a little less and let our baby enjoy food a little more.
