Diaper Free Baby

How would you like to never change your babys diaper? Well there is a parenting movement out there that is taking babies out of diapers from birth on. Elimination Communication is a process whereby the parent watches for signs that the baby is ready to eliminate and helps the baby to do so in a receptacle such as a potty chair or toilet. Just as we all try to respond to our childrens needs for food and love, these parents also try to respond to the childs need to eliminate by watching for gurgling, facial expressions, fussiness, or even just following their own intuition. The followers of Elimination Communication claim that it is more sanitary, more environmentally friendly, saves money and can strengthen the parent-child bond. There are local support groups for followers and a non-profit organization diaperfreebaby that can provide additional information for you.

It seems to me that it may be easier if your baby is an only child. With 3 kids under the age of 5 at my house, Elimination communication sounds like an impossible task that I would not want to take on! Sure it sounds great but implementation would be the hard part!

As always, we welcome your comments.
