What do Potato Bugs Eat?
My daughters have become obsessed with those roly-poly bugs. We always called them “potato bugs’ but apparently the real potato bugs are something different.
I suppose it is a rite of childhood, collecting bugs and all. I remember doing it. I caught potato bugs and grasshoppers and put them in jars trying to keep them as pets. It never worked for me, they always died! Now my daughters are doing it but we are much luckier now, with the Internet we can find out how to feed them- just put it in the search engine and see what comes out!
So we did–What do potato bugs eat? We actually found a site devoted completely to potato bugs called potatobugs.com. Apparently there is more interest in potato bugs than we ever realized!
But in looking at the photo’s the bugs my daughters are interested in are the “roly-poly” or “pill” bugs. Oh well, maybe they eat the same thing! Maybe they will develop a new interest soon and I can stop having bugs in bottles all over my kitchen floor!
