Vegan Couple on Trial for Death of Baby

by Administrator on November 7, 2005

Woyah Andressohn weighed less than 7 lbs. and was only 22 inches long when her emaciated little body was found by paramedics on May 14, 2003. The sad thing is that little Woyah was six months old.
Her parents, Joseph and Lamoy Andressohn will stand trial in the Miami-Dade Criminal Court for her death. An investigation into the death and the family’s vegan lifestyle revealed signs of starvation in little Woyah and her four older siblings.
The family had been following a “living foods lifestyle” for six years prior to Woyah’s death and all of the children had been reared on uncooked organic foods, including meals consisting of only raw vegetables and the use of wheatgrass enemas for various ailments.
The defense are supporting the theory that the baby died not from malnutrition but from a disease called DiGeorge syndrome which causes a failure of the thymus gland, the gland responsible for fighting off infections.
Medical examinations of the remaining four siblings indicated that all were well below the average height and weight for their ages and that they were even below the lowest appropriate percentile for children of their age.
The trial will be aired live on Court TV and streamed live on Court TV Extra.
